Benjamin Mendy could be on his way out of Manchester City this summer as he’s fallen down the pecking order and has lost the faith of Pep Guardiola following an injury-laden and inconsistent four-year stint.
The Sky Blues have been linked with Robin Gosens, Nicolas Tagliafico and David Alaba as a potential replacement, but Record say Pep Guardiola is ‘on the hunt’ for Nuno Mendes.

The 18-year-old has risen through the youth ranks to Sporting’s first-team, making 17 appearances for the U23s and 33 appearances at senior level (Transfermarkt). Mendes has been a regular under Rúben Amorim this season, boasting more interceptions than Joao Cancelo (33) and Ruben Dias (30), so he might be a good addition to the squad.
The Portuguese U21 international has created 13 chances, completed 78.7% of his 616 passes, whipped in 67 crosses with 31% finding a teammate, won 24/43 aerial duels, had 25/49 successful dribbles, blocked 19 shots/passes/crosses, made 22 clearances, given away one foul every 82.2 minutes, been dribbled past once every 123 minutes and averaged a tackle (28) or interception (42) every 21 minutes.
Mendes has a release clause of €70m (£60m) and four years remaining on his contract, so City might have to pay a premium for his signature.
