The 26-year-old joined City from AS Monaco in 2017 and has gone on to make only 67 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal with 11 assists. He’s averaged only 17 appearances a year at the Etihad Stadium and has started just 39 league games from a possible 144 due to fitness woes (Transfermarkt).

Pep Guardiola has grown frustrated with Mendy and prefers Oleksandr Zinchenko, so the former is surplus to requirements. Unfortunately, clubs aren’t clamouring for the left-back because he’s had a lot of injury problems in recent seasons and takes home £90k-per-week/£4.7m-a-year.

Mendy cost City £52m, but his market value with Transfermarkt is £19.8m while CIES Football Observatory estimate he’s worth €10m-€15m (£8.5m-£12.8m). The Sky Blues aren’t in a rush to sell Mendy as his deal runs until 2023, but they likely to take a big loss regardless.

City have been linked with Nuno Mendes, Robin Gosens, Nicolas Tagliafico, David Alaba and Gabriel Gundmundsson as potential replacements for Mendy, so it’s clear they’re planning for his eventual exit. PSG have shown an interest, but it remains to be seen if they’ll act on it.
