Speaking to talkSPORT, Man City star Kevin De Bruyne has opened up over potentially taking the captain’s armband on a permanent and official basis – with the Belgian playmaker going on to say he is ‘honoured‘ that many critics support him taking the role.
De Bruyne, who has been the Sky Blues’ standout performer this campaign, amassing a brilliant 16 assists in the league so far over 2019/2020, is now being touted with the armband following a string of impressive displays.
Should De Bruyne be made captain?
Yes, no other candidate
No, Fernandinho should get it
Indeed, while the 29-year-old missed a large portion of our domestic quadruple-winning campaign through injury, De Bruyne has arguably bettered his previous 2017/2018 Centurions season – with the midfielder now being recommended for the captaincy.
Vincent Kompany’s departure to Anderlecht last summer arguably left the Sky Blues without a clear team leader, but De Bruyne’s instrumental presence this season has earmarked him for the role.
Here’s how City supporters concurred that he should be our next team captain.
