Manchester City enjoyed a 1-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon and Ruben Dias was one of many players who impressed. The 23-year-old started alongside John Stones and completely shut the Gunners out in their own backyard.
Dias played his part in Arsenal being limited to only one shot on target over the 90 minutes and City’s backline were so solid that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette failed to register a single shot between them (WhoScored).

Ruben Dias is definitely one of the contenders for player of the season. The impact he has had on City’s defence is immense. Even Stones has become so good playing next to him. #PremierLeague

Ruben Dias looks a future captain of #mcfc. Calming influence, such a colossus as a centre back, has improved John Stones, and built a superb partnership with him. Good distribution, and always encouraging team-mates. Looks a real leader. #ARSMCI

Against Arsenal, Dias played for 90 minutes, had 95 touches, completed 95.3% of his 85 passes, made one interception, blocked one shot, made two clearances, won one free-kick and had three successful dribbles. He was solid at the back and confident bringing the ball out of defence.
The 23-year-old has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season and has been on the winning team 24 times (Transfermarkt). Dias has been a regular at the back and City have kept 15 clean sheets in 25 Premier League games (SoccerStats), so he’s having a real impact in his debut campaign.
Next up for City is a trip to face Borussia Monchengladbach in the last-16 of the Champions League and could make it 19 consecutive wins if they come out on top.
In other news, some fans laud ‘assured’ John Stones who was ‘brilliant’ against Arsenal
