Manchester City enjoyed a 3-0 win over Olympiacos in Tuesday evening’s Champions League clash, courtesy of goals from Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus and Joao Cancelo.
With no Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus in the starting lineup, Pep Guardiola named Torres in attack and wasn’t let down. The 20-year-old opened the scoring and put in a good performance at the Etihad Stadium, earning plaudits from supporters on social media.

Torres looks a real player, looks better every time I see him. Real find for £20m #mcfc

Ferran Torres is developing nicely. It’s nice, as well, that he can play in the center. I miss Sané, but he could never play centrally. I like what I see so far! #ManCity #MCFC #CTID #UCL #MCIOLY

Everyone raving about Jota. Torres is younger, was half the price and just as effective. Looks a real player #bargain #mcfc

Just had a look at Man City's opener. Ferran Torres and Kevin De Bruyne with some very neat tiki taka-lite. Torres is another who is proving to be a very smart piece of business this summer. #MCFC #ManCity #UCL

Satisfactory night that. Points gained & minimum effort expended. Gundo moved the ball well, Torres razor sharp, Ake a solid return & Walker excellent as usual. A most welcome return for Gabby capped off with a great strike. On to Sunday #mcfc

3 points, comfortable, clean sheet again, key defenders rested, Ake solid, Torres sharp, Jesus back & 90 mins confidence booster for Stones
All that said we’re gonna need to be a lot lot better on Sunday….#MCFC

Ferran Torres was an absolute bargain. That's it, that's the tweet. #MCFC

Against Olympiacos, Torres played for 90 minutes, had 31 touches, won three aerial duels, completed 94.7% of his 19 passes, created three chances, had five shots with one goal and won two freekicks.
The Spanish international scored four goals and made two assists in nine appearances in all competitions this season, but it remains to be seen if he’ll start up front against Liverpool on Sunday.
Gabriel Jesus has returned from injury and scored against Olympiacos, so he might be in contention. Torres has given Guardiola a selection headache, however, as he’s shone for City since his £21m-move from Valencia, so we’re blessed with a handful of options.
A win over the Reds could take us into the top-four, but Liverpool are obviously no slouches.
