Mahrez first goal was a low effort from the edge of the box that Alex McCarthy couldn’t get down quickly enough to save. He nearly bagged a second goal minutes later in similar circumstances, but his low effort hit the post and was put in by Ilkay Gundogan.
The 30-year-old did eventually get his brace before the hour mark with a brilliant effort into the bottom corner after taking the ball on the spin in the box and evading a challenge to work an opening. He was fantastic on Wednesday and deserved the plaudits.
Mahrez when he plays at that level is outstanding 🔝
