According to a report from the Telegraph, as City eye a move for Ben Chilwell, this could allow Pep Guardiola to move makeshift left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko back into his preferred midfield position – prompting many City supporters to lavish the Ukrainian on Twitter.

Zinchenko, who signed from Russian club UFA back in the summer of 2016, has been deployed as a left-back for the majority of his City career – helping to cover for the likes of Benjamin Mendy and ex-defender Fabian Delph over his four-year stint to date.

Could Zinchenko become a stellar attacking midfielder for City?

Yes, so much potential

No, not good enough

The 23-year-old has been used in a similar fashion over 2019/2020 – rotating alongside Mendy and Angelino earlier this campaign before the latter man was shipped out on loan to RB Leipzig.

Even though he has impressed in the full-back area, making the joint-most tackles out of any City player in the league according to WhoScored, many Sky Blues are excited by the prospect of him playing in his natural attacking midfield role.
