Manchester City enjoyed a 3-1 win over Everton on Wednesday evening and Riyad Mahrez was one of many players who impressed at Goodison Park.
The 29-year-old was handed a start after Ilkay Gundogan missed out with a groin injury, so Phil Foden was moved into a central role.
Mahrez didn’t let Pep Guardiola down either. He scored a brilliant curled effort to put City ahead after Everton equalised, resulting in adulation from supporters on social media.
Where will Manchester City finish this season?
1st
2nd
3rd
4th
Class 2nd half that…..
Rodri outstanding, as was Bernard, Mahrez excellent.
Love Cancelo, albeit he’s so much better at right back. And perm any 2 from 3 of those world class centre half’s.
That 🏆 is on its way back from the one season wonders down the M62#mcfc

Manchester City are without any doubt deserving #PL title winners for this season. They simply are rampant with any of their opponents. Silva, De bruyne, Sterling, Gundogan, Mahrez, Foden..talk about squad depth and quality! Amazing 👏🏻 #EVEMCI

Against Everton, Mahrez played for 90 minutes, had 67 touches, completed 88.5% of his 52 passes, had three shots, whipped in eight crosses and won a freekick.
For City’s second goal, the Algerian international ran inside from the right flank to make some space and whipped an effort into the far corner from the edge of the box. A brilliant goal and vintage Mahrez.
He’s scored seven goals and made three assists in 30 games across the board this season and has been a regular in the starting lineup of late.
Next up for City is a trip to face Arsenal on Sunday and Mahrez will hope his goal is enough to keep his place. The Sky Blues could go 13 points clear of second-placed Manchester United if results go their way over the weekend.
