Report: Man City may have to pay £30m for LB with more tackles than Cancelo and Rodri

Pep Guardiola may be on the hunt for a left-back this summer as Manchester City are short on options. Oleksandr Zinchenko is available and Joao Cancelo is a makeshift option, but Benjamin Mendy may have played his final game for the club as he awaits trial for alleged sex crimes, so a replacement could be brought in.

The Sky Blues have been linked with Theo Hernandez, Nicolas Tagliafico, Nuno Tavares, Alex Sandro, Abner Vinicius, Nuno Mendes, David Alaba, Nicolas Fernandez Marcau, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Robin Gosens, but Jason Burt of the Telegraph says Brighton & Hove Albion defender Marc Cucurella is a transfer target.

The 23-year-old joined Brighton on a five-year deal from Getafe last summer and has gone on to make 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal with two assists. Cucurella has made 91 tackles, had 30 interceptions, made 61 clearances, blocked 14 shots, had 27/54 successful dribbles, won 35/68 aerial duels and created 40 chances.

He’s made more tackles than Joao Cancelo (82) and Rodri (70), so the Spanish international would be a good addition to the squad. Burt says City will have to pay £30m to procure his signature, so time will tell if Guardiola pushes for Cucurella.

In other news, Man City must pay £16.9m for midfielder with more goals and assists than Jack Grealish
