Man City must pay ‘astonishing figure’ for 215-goal striker who ‘would like to leave’ club

Manchester City are prearing for the possibility of Sergio Aguero leaving this summer and have Harry Kane on their long list of transfer targets.

The 27-year-old is a key player for Tottenham Hotspur and someone Daniel Levy has no intention of selling, but David Ornstein of The Athletic told Sky Sport that the Lilywhites’ struggles could see him leaving.

He said: “The consensus is that (Kane) would like to leave Tottenham, but he can’t say that publicly. He’s very committed while he’s at the club, but he wants to go and win trophies – he’s said that publicly. It doesn’t look like he’s going to do that at Tottenham, so I think he’s open to a transfer.”

Kane rose through the youth ranks to Spurs first-team in 2013 and has gone on to make 327 appearances in all competitions, scoring 215 goals and supplying 46 assists (Transfermarkt). This season, the England international has scored 27 goals and made 16 assists in 40 games across the board, so it’s easy to see why City would want him.

The SKy Blues are showing an interest Darwin Nunez, Edin Dzeko, Romelu Lukaku, Ali Akman, Erling Haaland, Lautaro Martinez and Arek Milik, and Ornstein says they might have more chance of signing one of the aforementioned strikers as Levy is demanding a lot of money for Kane.

He added: “(A move is) incredibly unlikely because Daniel Levy would want an astonishingly high figure well in excess of £120m. He wouldn’t want to sell to a rival – we know there’s admiration from Manchester City. They made an enquiry last summer.”

Kane has three years remaining on his deal at Tottenham, but the club’s exit from the Europa League and struggles in the Premier League could see him consider his future. Spurs are in the League Cup final against Manchester City next month, but that may not be enough to convince him to stay.
