Report: Man City player ‘hopes to stay’ in Premier League ‘if he leaves’ club this summer

|

Sergio Aguero is out of contract at Manchester City this summer and isn’t close to putting pen to paper on an extension, so there is a real possibility of him departing at the end of the season.

The Daily Mail say Aguero ‘hopes to stay’ in the Premier League ‘if he leaves’ in the coming months, however, so might he be lining up for a rival? Chelsea have been linked and Aguero would attract top-level interest, so they could be a genuine destination.

The 32-year-old has scored three goals in 14 games across the board this season, amassing only 454 minutes of playing time due to injury woes and Corovinavirus (Transfermarkt). Aguero hasn’t nailed down a starting place since returning to fitness either, so his future is uncertain.

City are on the hunt for a replacement and have been linked with Darwin Nunez, Edin Dzeko, Romelu Lukaku, Ali Akman, Erling Haaland, Lautaro Martinez, Arek Milik and Harry Kane, so Aguero doesn’t have long left at the Etihad even if he did sign a new deal.

Whether the Argentine would really join another Premier League club is uncertain too, however, as Aguero has been open about his desire to play in Spain and Argentina. Time will tell.
