Sergio Aguero is out of contract at Manchester City this summer and could be replaced by one of Patson Daka, Harry Kane, Darwin Nunez, Edin Dzeko, Romelu Lukaku, Ali Akman, Erling Haaland, Lautaro Martinez and Arek Milik.
But with Sky Sports confirming that Danny Ings is also genuine transfer target due to his affordability, fans have taken to social media to give their thoughts. It doesn’t appear many consider him to be a good replacement for Aguero.
This makes no sense on all levels unless they are trying to fill some home grown quota. Love Ings as a player & he’s been terribly unlucky with injuries but he’s 29 in the summer with other centre forwards out there for a club like City to choose from.

Not a chance, he's not good enough. End of story. This story is total rubbish.😡👊

Ings would be best placed staying at Southampton. One bad game and he'd spend the next 6 on the bench. City are a team of superstars that have the wealth to drop anyone that doesn't bring it 110% every game. Ings is too good to spend his last good years on the bench

He's old and injury prone. No way city's board want him. City board is gonna buy young striker. I'd say haaland, isaak, daka or felix

Ings joined Southampton in 2019 and has gone on to make 92 appearances in all competitions, scoring 42 goals and supplying nine assists (Transfermarkt). His future at St Mary’s is up in the air too, as there’s little over one year remaining on his contract.
Should Ings be seduced by the interest from City, Southampton might have to cash in early rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2022. That’s why Ings could be an affordable target, but whether the Sky Blues prefer him over Daka, Kane, Nunez, Dzeko, Lukaku, Akman, Haaland, Martinez and Milik remains to be seen.
Ings turns 29 in July, so the next deal he signs might be his last at the top level. He’s worked hard to get his career back on track after an injury-laden stint at Liverpool, but will City make a move?
